How do I choose a piezoelectric sensor when buying?
As the name suggests, a piezoelectric sensor is a sensor that converts pressure into an electrical signal and is an important part of a pressure detection system. Its electrical output can display the pressure value on a display meter or be used for control and alarm purposes. So, how do you choose?
In general, viscous liquids (e.g. crude oil), coal slurries, slurries and other deposits usually block the pressure interface and interfere with the proper operation of the inlet pressure sensor. In such cases, isolation membrane (i.e., flat membrane construction) sensors are required, which come into direct contact with the medium for pressure measurement. When solvents contain corrosive substances, materials compatible with these media should be used as isolation membranes, otherwise the service life of the product will be affected.
The accuracy of piezoelectric sensors mentioned here refers mainly to non-linearity, hysteresis, repeatability, zero and full scale deviations, temperature and other environmental influences. Generally speaking, the higher the accuracy, the higher the cost of the product and the higher the selling price. Therefore, customers should not only seek high accuracy when selecting a product, but should also make a reasonable choice based on the actual measurement requirements.
Typically, the transmitter will be calibrated for two temperature ranges, namely the normal operating temperature range and the temperature compensation range. The normal operating temperature range is the temperature range at which the product will operate under undamaged operating conditions and when outside the temperature compensation range, the application performance specification may not be met. Operating within the temperature compensation range, the product will certainly achieve its proper performance specification.
The piezoelectric sensor temperature variation zero drift and full scale output, without these parameters it is difficult to determine whether the variation in the transmitter output is caused by pressure variation or by temperature variation. Therefore, the selection should be taken into account.
